Cawley Stadium, used by Lowell High School teams, requires an estimated $7.4 million in repairs according to a report by engineering firm Gale. The stadium, built in 1937 and accommodating 6,000 spectators, has various interior and exterior issues. Cracking concrete in the grandstands, moisture infiltration, water damage, and deteriorating finishes were among the concerns. Gale recommended removing loose concrete, installing new waterproofing, and addressing moisture infiltration. The exterior facade requires repairs to prevent moisture infiltration and deterioration, including replacing sealant and backer rods. Hazardous materials such as asbestos, PCBs, and lead paint were also found and need to be replaced in compliance with state law. The synthetic turf field was recently replaced in 2020, and the track was resurfaced in 2021.
