Sue grew up in Lowell, just up the street from Cawley Stadium. Her grandfather, Edward D Cawley, for whom the stadium is named, was a larger than life figure in and around the city of Lowell, and Sue heard stories of his athletic prowess and civic activities on a daily basis.  She was always proud of what her grandfather accomplished, never more so than when she was a member of the Lowell High track and field team throughout her high school years; this was one of the many highlights of attending LHS, following in the footsteps of her grandfather and parents.

Sue has held a number of leadership positions in both nonprofit and corporate settings. She combines this experience with her passion to reinvigorate not only the Stadium, but the entire Cawley complex for the children of Lowell to enjoy for generations to come. Much like her grandfather spent his adult years giving back to the youth of Lowell, Sue is engaged in helping to ensure that LAAF and the City of Lowell work in tandem to bring the stadium back to being a place of pride and shining example of what can be built when Lowellians come together for the children of the city.

Sue has served as the board president of Vesper Country Club, only the second woman to hold this position, and as the board treasurer for Groton Youth Lacrosse. She hopes to harness experience gained in these volunteer roles to bolster her efforts to improve Cawley Stadium and the Martin Complex.

Sue and her husband Tom have three college-aged children, all of whom have grown up learning about and treasuring the legacy of their great-grandfather, Edward Cawley.
