A newly formed nonprofit group, Lowell Athletics & Activities Foundation (LAAF), along with public officials, is aiming to transform the deteriorating facilities at Cawley Memorial Stadium into a modern facility for the entire community. The group plans to raise funds for various improvements, starting with replacing the locker rooms. They envision creating a state-of-the-art complex, including a field house, to benefit students, athletes, and the community as a whole. The city has already made some upgrades and will assess the grandstand for repairs, with hopes of completing the renovations by the time the new high school project is finished.
